Lucas Neill's future looks as uncertain as ever, as West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola has today affirmed that signing the Australian international on a new deal was far from the forefront of his mind at the moment.

The defender's contract at Upton Park expired in the summer, and he had seemed set to leave east London, with reports circulating that both Sunderland and Turkish giants Galatasaray were interested in him.

However, there is further speculation floating around that he could be tempted to re-join the Irons on a new contract, but Zola today indicated that the uncertainty of the situation had pushed the player far down his list of priorities.

"He was in talks with West Ham, then I find out he was in talks with Galatasaray and with Sunderland. Now I don't know what's going on," the Sardinian told Sky Sports.

"But he's out, and that's no good for him. For the moment, he's not our priority in that position."
